Overview

Mount Longonot is a stratovolcano located in the Great Rift Valley of Kenya, and its most unique feature is the thick forest that grows within its crater. This creates a striking and beautiful contrast between the steep, barren volcanic ridges and the lush greenery inside the crater.

Hike up to the Mt Longonot crater, rim takes about half a day, though going up the 4.1 kilometres to the rim of the crater can take anything from 45 minutes to 2 hours, depending on your speed, 7.2 Kilometres round the rim
