Activity itinerary

Casa Central del Banco Republica (Pass by)

Zabala Street is populated by austere and imposing buildings, like the one that stands gigantic in front of you. It is a historical monument of Montevideo, and one of the most representative of the old town: the headquarters of the Bank of the Republic.

Rambla de Montevideo (Pass by)

So you are on the popular Rambla de Montevideo. With these 24km along the bay, it is the longest sea promenade in the world. This is really the place to come and take the pulse of the city. If you haven’t walked the Rambla, you haven’t actually been to Montevideo.

Mercado del Puerto (Pass by)

I hope this walk in Montevideo has made you hungry, because you arrive in front of its gastronomic temple, its Mercado del Puerto. Don’t let yourself be fooled by its Point of Sale name, you won’t find any fresh fish or seafood inside.

Peatonal Sarandi (Pass by)

You reach the pedestrian street of Sarandi which leaves from the port to Plaza Independencia. Know that if you take it in the other direction, towards the sea, you can walk to the end of the pier where there are usually some fishermen, and enjoy the view.

Templo Ingles de Montevideo (Pass by)

Swearing a little with the rest of the landscape, you find here, on the Rambla, the English Temple. It’s quite unique to find a Protestant temple, from the Anglican church in Hispanic America.

Montevideo (Pass by)

The street you cross now is called the Cumparsita. Since the one before was Carlos Gardel Street, it might be time to take a look at the Tango.
