Know before you book

  • Because of the weather dependant nature of flying over the Southern Alps to Milford Sound, we recommend booking in for your first available day in Queenstown. So that, should the weather be unfavorable for flying on the first day, you will have flexibility to roll on to a following fine weather day.
  • If you weigh 264 pounds (120 kg) or more, you must notify the tour operator in advance.

What you can expect

Three of the twelve seats are positioned in the middle of the cabin, these offer the added benefit for some guests of views out of both sides of the aircraft and many guests appreciate the middle seat for the opportunity to sit alongside family or friends.

During the trip, our pilots share captivating stories about Fiordland’s rugged beauty and rich history. Guests can also download a GPS-triggered audio commentary app to guide them through both flight and cruise.

Enjoy breathtaking bird’s-eye views of the Southern Lakes and Milford Sound as you fly the full length of the fiord before landing beneath the awe-inspiring Mitre Peak, towering 1,692 metres (5,551 feet) from the water’s edge.

Once there, embark on a small boat guided nature cruise lasting 1 hour 45 minutes. This is a more personalised experience than some of the other cruising boats in Milford.

Keep an eye out for wildlife including fur seals, dolphins, and, if you’re lucky, rare Fiordland crested penguins.
