What you can expect

  • Nature Alive in Santa María del Tule: Our adventure begins with a visit to the legendary El Tule Tree. Be amazed by this ahuehuete tree that's over 2,000 years old and has the widest trunk in the world. As you walk around it, discover the whimsical shapes that time and nature have sculpted in its bark, an experience that will connect you with the living history of the region.
The Art of Colour in Teotitlán del Valle We'll continue to the iconic community of Teotitlán del Valle, world-famous for its exquisite wool rugs. Here, we'll visit a family-run workshop where master artisans will show you the traditional process, from carding the wool to dyeing it with natural pigments such as cochineal and indigo. You'll learn the meaning behind each Zapotec design, giving you an in-depth insight into this cultural heritage.
The Spirit of Oaxaca: Mezcal Distillery To round off the day in style, we'll visit an artisanal mezcal distillery (palenque). You'll get an up-close look at the production process of “the drink of the gods”: from baking the agave hearts in earthen ovens to distilling them in copper pots. The experience culminates with a guided tasting of different varieties of mezcal, allowing you to distinguish the nuances and aromas that make this drink a liquid treasure unlike any other in the world.
