Hoofbeats and Heartbeats is a hands-on, groundwork-only experience (no riding) with the permanent residents of a peaceful horse sanctuary in Boulder. Free on-site parking is provided. Your visit begins with a warm welcome and safety orientation from Susan, the sanctuary’s founder, who has more than 40 years of experience with horses. You’ll hear the storey of Daisy, the horse who inspired the sanctuary, and learn why every horse here has a forever home, because their worth was never tied to being useful. Next you’ll meet the herd and begin building trust and presence with your horse. A mindful grooming session follows, using brushes and gentle touch to connect. Then guided groundwork exercises and obstacle navigation show you how horses communicate and how to communicate clearly with them. The 75-minute experience ends with a quiet moment of reflection to take in what your horse taught you. It’s accessible to all skill levels, and no horse experience is needed. Please wear closed-toe shoes and bring a water bottle. Activities are outdoors, so expect to get a little dusty.
