Day 1: Nairobi to Maasai Mara – Drive and Afternoon Game Drive
Your safari starts early with a 7:00 AM pickup in a 4x4 Land Cruiser from your Nairobi hotel. You’ll drive through the scenic Great Rift Valley, stopping at a viewpoint to enjoy the sweeping views. The journey continues through Narok, a bustling Maasai town, before reaching Maasai Mara in time for lunch at your budget camp, such as Miti Mingi or Rhino Camp. After a short rest, you’ll head out on your first game drive in the reserve. The evening drive offers a chance to spot elephants, giraffes, antelopes, lions, and other wildlife. Return to camp by sunset for dinner and an overnight stay in a basic tented room with an en-suite bathroom and hot shower.
Day 2: Full Day Game Drive in Maasai Mara
After an early breakfast, set out with packed lunch for a full-day game drive across the vast plains of Maasai Mara. Today’s focus is on exploring the park in search of the Big Five – lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, and leopard. The Maasai Mara is home to an incredible range of animals and birdlife. You’ll visit the Mara River where hippos and crocodiles thrive, and where the Great Migration crosses during peak season. With a professional guide at your side, you'll explore various landscapes from riverbanks to savannah, spotting wildlife in their natural behaviour. Pause at a picnic site to enjoy your lunch, surrounded by nature. After a rewarding day in the wild, return to camp in the late afternoon for dinner and overnight rest.
Day 3: Optional Maasai Village Visit – Return to Nairobi
Wake up for a relaxed breakfast at the camp. There is no game drive scheduled for today, giving you time to unwind. You can choose to visit a nearby Maasai village where you’ll learn about the traditional life of the Maasai people, their customs, homes, and culture. After the visit or free time at the camp, check out and begin the journey back to Nairobi. You’ll stop along the way for rest and refreshments, arriving in the city by late afternoon or early evening. This marks the end of your memorable Maasai Mara safari.
