What you can expect
The seaside city of Newport, Rhode Island, has long been home to some of the most affluent families in America. Spend a day exploring the gilded homes and extravagant lifestyles of the rich and famous.
Your day begins with a visit to the Marble House. Built as a summer cottage for the Vanderbilt family in 1892, the home is comprised of more than 500,000 cubic feet (14,160 cbm) of white marble. Inspired by the Petit Trianon at Versailles, the construction of the Marble House began the transformation of Newport from a sleepy fishing village to the community it is today.
Take a break to explore the posh shops in town and grab a bite of lunch by the yachts lining the inner harbour. Afterwards, visit a second renowned mansion before finishing the day with a ride down historic and scenic Ocean Drive along the shorefront.
