What you can expect

This full day tour offers you a chance to explore the beauty of Luang Prabang city which is commonly called “Jewel on the Mekong”. Joining this tour, you will observe the city’s landscape in the early morning with the ritual image of saffron-clad Buddhist monks walking with their alms bowls through the streets of Luang Prabang, and explore a local morning market. In addition, you will discover some highlights of this city, such as the famous temples, the traditional arts & ethnology centre, the National Museum, and Phousi Hill.

At 5.00 am, you will be greeted and picked up at your hotel lobby by an English speaking guide. Then you will be taken to a street where you will observe a very solemn morning ritual of the local monks. They are saffron-clad Buddhist monks walking with their alms bowls through the streets of Luang Prabang every morning. You will see or take part in this serene Buddhist ritual of almsgiving which is commonly known as “tak bat”. This is one of the must-see experiences in Luang Prabang city, home of approximately 80 temples.

After the monks have passed through, you will head to a local morning market located near Luang Prabang’s main road. Here, you will see a variety of products ranging from fruits, vegetables, meat and spices sold in bamboo mats or sarongs on the pavement. Then, you will head back to your hotel to have breakfast.

At 8.00 am, after having breakfast, you will have enough energy to start your sightseeing tour. Your first stops are the most popular temples in Luang Prabang such as Wat Visoun, Wat Mai and especially Wat Xieng Thong.

At 10.30, leaving the temples, you continue the tour by visiting the traditional arts & ethnology centre where you can see displays of the traditional arts and lifestyles of Laos. Then, you will pay a visit to the National Museum which is known as the former royal palace, and a Hmong market and craft shop.

At 12.00, you will stop by a local restaurant and have lunch there. You will have a short rest before reaching the last destination of the tour.

At 1.30 pm, you will climb up 328 steps to Phousi Hill for a spectacular view of Luang Prabang.
At 3:00 pm, you will be driven back to your hotel and the tour ends.
