Lombok: 2-Day 1-Night Whale Shark Trip

Unlike standard day tours, this overnight trip allows you to stay closer to the whale shark area, making it possible to reach the location early in the morning when sightings are most likely. Travelling by shared boat also creates a friendly social atmosphere while keeping the experience affordable.

Day 1: Lombok to Sumbawa – Island Snorkelling

Your adventure begins with hotel pickup in Senggigi, Mataram, Bangsal, or Kuta Lombok. From Lombok, you will travel towards Sumbawa by land and ferry before arriving at the harbour near Saleh Bay.

After boarding the boat, you will head to nearby islands where you can snorkel among colourful coral reefs and tropical fish. Enjoy the clear turquoise waters, relax on the beach, or explore the peaceful island surroundings.

In the afternoon, you may enjoy sunset views before heading to local accommodation near the whale shark area for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Whale Shark Encounter

Wake up early before sunrise for the highlight of the trip. You will board a shared boat and travel to the whale shark hotspot in Saleh Bay.

With snorkelling equipment, you will have the chance to enter the water and swim alongside whale sharks as they glide slowly through the ocean. Despite their enormous size, these gentle giants are harmless filter feeders that mainly eat plankton and small fish.

After the whale shark experience, enjoy breakfast before returning to Lombok. The trip concludes with afternoon hotel drop-off, leaving you with unforgettable memories of this incredible wildlife encounter.

⚠️ ⚠️ IMPORTANT INFORMATION: WHALE SHARK ENCOUNTERS

Whale sharks are wild animals living in their natural habitat, therefore sightings cannot be guaranteed. Based on experience in Saleh Bay, the chance of encountering whale sharks is approximately 60%.

If whale sharks are not encountered on the first day, we will continue the search on the second day to maximise the opportunity.

If after two days whale sharks are still not found, the trip will return to the original pickup location. All operational costs during the trip remain covered by the company, however no refunds will be issued as the full itinerary and services will have been provided.
