At the estate around Museum Borg Verhildersum, you experience the history of Groningen through the eyes of the aristocracy, the farmers and the peasantry in the 19th century. Come along too! To admire the borg and for a lovely walk in the sculpture garden. Take a leisurely stroll through the farmlands, past the orchard and livestock. Along the way, take a look at the workers' cottage and our museum farm. In the coach house, you will find a museum shop with books, trinkets and delicacies. For a drink and a delicious lunch, visit Restaurant Ons Schathoes. For the children, there are fun assignments at each part in the experience route and in the children's play meadow they can let off steam.
Verhildersum Estate is only a 30 minutes drive from Groningen by car and the busstop Qbuzz bus line 65 is in front of the castle.

The borg shows the life of the nobility.
In the farmhouse there are stories of farmers' families Borgman and Mansholt, old crafts and the exhibition of Groningen 19th century fashion and embroidery. And you can see old farmers equipment and handicrafts such as materials from an old backery and the equipment that was used to process flax to make linen, for example.
The farmhouse also houses the ‘Ede Staal experience centre’ with a Virtual Reality experience: ‘Ede Staal Mijn Groningen - Mien Grunnen’. Within this experience, you can play a VR game with the songs of Ede Staal. Ede Staal was a famous regional singersongwriter who died in 1986. His songs are about the landscape, the churches, the farms and the sky’s.
The workers' cottage shows that the labourer lived in very different conditions.
In the Koetshuis, is always a sdpecial exhibition. This year with the paintings of Afina Goudschaal, who worked between 1890 and the beginning of 1900 as one of the first ladies who finished art school.
Verhildersum offers a total experience of the history of the past and the experience in the present.
