What you can expect
Explore the beautiful nature, history, and culture of La Paz on this exciting multi-day tour. Start with a mountain biking adventure, then head to Uyuni to explore the salt flats. Continue to the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve, and finish with a visit to the Atacama Desert in Chile.
Day 1: La Paz - Yolosa
Start your day with a mountain biking adventure. After getting kitted out with a full-suspension bike, helmet, gloves, jacket, and pants, set off on a 22-kilometer descent down a paved road. Enjoy the security of a support van following the group, and take breaks to drink water, take photos, and check your bike.
Continue to the “Death Road” for a 10-kilometer ride, followed by a snack break. Finish the day with a view of a beautiful waterfall and a 32-kilometer ride to Yolosa. Relax at a hotel with showers, a pool, and lunch. Return to La Paz in the late afternoon and transfer to the bus station. Board the bus to Uyuni at 9:00 PM.
Day 2: Uyuni - Ajencha
Arrive in Uyuni at 7:30 AM and enjoy some free time to explore the city. Then, begin your tour at 10:30 AM. Visit the Train Cemetery, Colchani, a salt miners' workshop, and a craft market selling items made from salt and llama and alpaca fibre.
Next, visit the Salty Eyes, a hotel museum made entirely of salt, the World Flags, the Dakar Monument, and the Incahuasi Island. Take some fun perspective photos with the striking white backdrop of the salt flats. Head to a wide area to watch the sunset and then have dinner in Ajencha. Spend the night in a hostel.
Day 3: Ajencha - Laguna Roja
Start your day with a hearty breakfast and then visit Ollagüe, the rocky trail “El Pasito Tuntun”, and the famous Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota lagoons, where you can see flamingos. Finally, enter the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve, where you can see the Siloli Desert, the Rock Tree, and the immense Red Lagoon to see more pink flamingos in their natural habitat. Spend the night in a hostel.
Day 4: Laguna Roja - San Pedro de Atacama
Start early, around 5:00 AM, to visit the Sol de Mañana Geyser, take a dip in the Polques Hot Springs, see the Dali Desert, the Green Lagoon, and the White Lagoon at the foot of the Licancabur Volcano. Return to the border between Bolivia and Chile (Hito Cajón) and finally arrive in San Pedro de Atacama at 2:00 PM.
