Immerse yourself in Kyoto’s rich culture and discover the city by e-bike, from the atmospheric streets of Gion to the famous red torii gates of Fushimi Inari. Start with a brief orientation to riding an e-bike in Japan before setting off through the beautiful Gion district. Learn about Geisha, Kyoto’s traditions and the customs that have shaped this historic neighbourhood.
From there, leave the busier tourist areas behind and cycle through quieter streets and local neighbourhoods, giving you a glimpse of everyday life in Kyoto. We’ll stop at numerous interesting spots and local gems along the way, many of which are easy to miss when exploring the city on your own.
The main highlight of the tour is Fushimi Inari Shrine, famous for its thousands of vibrant red torii gates. Your guide will explain the fascinating history of Fushimi Inari, the significance of the shrine and the basics of Shintoism, helping you understand much more than simply taking photos of the torii.
After exploring Fushimi Inari, continue by e-bike through quieter parts of southern Kyoto, with more interesting stops and places to discover along the route. The relaxed pace of cycling allows you to see a different side of the city while avoiding the feel of a typical sightseeing tour.
By the end of the tour, you’ll have experienced some of Kyoto’s most famous sights as well as lesser-known places, and you’ll have a better understanding of the city, its culture and what you’re seeing during the rest of your time in Japan.
