This self-guided walking tour follows that storey on foot, from the Electoral Palace, the last great residence of Trier's prince-electors, through the old town to the Deutsches Eck, where the two rivers finally collide.

Everything runs from your own smartphone, and there is no app to download. You get a map of all 8 stops, simple directions between them, a short audio storey at each location and an interactive quiz that turns the walk into a game.

Along the way you meet the fortress-like Prussian Government Building, the spitting Schängelbrunnen, the Baroque Four Towers, the eye-rolling clock on Florinsmarkt and the Basilica of St. Castor, where the Carolingian Empire was carved up in 842.
