We leave Killarney and take a scenic drive across the Dingle Peninsula to the famous viewpoint at Slea Head. Here we can stroll along the narrow winding coastal road and capture views out to the Blasket Islands, before we visit the rocky shoreline and the beach at Coumeenoole Strand. We take in the views of the islands and the Atlantic Ocean above the twisting path to Dunquin Pier as well as the amazing vistas at Clogher. We explore the ecclesiastical sites at Kilmalkedar and Gallarus, before we arrive in Dingle for a lunch break.
The afternoon begins with a drive up to the viewpoint at the Conor Pass, which is the highest road in Ireland. Heading back towards the rugged shoreline, we follow a maze of single-track roads, visiting storm beaches, standing stones and a picturesque castle by the sea. We discover panoramic views of the rural patchwork of fields on the edge of Dingle Bay, as well as the atmospheric ruins of farmhouses on our way to Inch Strand, which stretches 4 miles out into the bay. During the tour, we’ll also visit many of my favourite, more secluded places, that I’ve discovered with my camera over the years. We arrive back in Killarney around 5 - 6 pm.
