Begin your adventure with a convenient pickup from your hotel or the Argostoli cruise ship pier. Explore Melissani and Drogarati Caves, take in the Ionian blues above Myrtos Beach, and swim at Makris Gialos Beach on a relaxed, small-group guided shore excursion. Travel comfortably in an air-conditioned Mercedes Sprinter minivan as you uncover the island’s natural beauty!

After pickup, the itinerary continues with an optional visit to Melissani Lake. There, you will experience a guided boat ride across the underground lake, formed thousands of years ago, gliding over crystal-clear turquoise and emerald waters, past stalactites and stalagmites, and a small islet once used by the ancient Greeks for rituals honouring the nymphs and Pan.

Next, you will have the option to choose between two alternative routes, allowing you to tailor the experience to your interests.

Option 1: Drogarati Cave & Agia Efimia

Visit Drogarati Cave*, a remarkable underground cavern shaped over millions of years, where towering stalactites and stalagmites create a dramatic natural setting. The journey then continues through the picturesque seaside village of Agia Efimia, a traditional fishing settlement known for its calm harbour and authentic island atmosphere.

Option 2: Assos Village

Explore the traditional Heptanese village of Assos, one of the few settlements that remained largely intact after the 1953 earthquake. Wander through its narrow streets, admire the colourful architecture, and enjoy time at the small harbour with views of the Venetian Castle of Assos perched above the peninsula.

Afterwards, you will stop at the iconic viewpoint above Myrtos Beach, taking in the sweeping Ionian panorama of one of Europe’s most photographed shores. The journey then continues to Makris Gialos Beach, a local favourite, where you can unwind with a refreshing swim. You will spend time relaxing on the beach, making use of the available amenities, or enjoying optional water activities.

After your beach stop, you will be comfortably returned to your hotel or the cruise ship pier in Argostoli.

*Please note that if you choose to visit Drogarati Cave, access requires descending and ascending approximately 145 steep steps. For this reason, the visit is not recommended for guests with mobility difficulties. In this case, we suggest choosing Option 2, which offers time to relax and enjoy a coffee at the small, picturesque harbour of Assos.

Melissani Lake, on the other hand, is easily accessible, as reaching the boats involves walking through a short, gently sloping tunnel.
