Guided by a local who knows the route like the back of their hand, this 3.5-hour walk will get your heart rate up quickly. After the first 40 minutes, the trail levels out slightly as you work your way across the gully.
Before descending to Jagasatru Waterfall, stop at the top of the hill for a snack, fruit, and water refill. Learn about the big statue of Brahma located here, one of the three Hindu Gods representing the balance of the island.
Reach the stunning Jagasatru Waterfall, where a pool formed at its base offers a great spot to cool off. With natural waters flowing down, there is a pool for people to do a water blessing just below this waterfall. Take a dip in the fresh, cold pool at the foot of the falls.
Continue your journey through the jungle to reach the third stopping point, where locals create Arak, a local alcoholic drink made from palm trees. Established in 1972 and now run by the third generation, witness the traditional distillation process using bamboo and a firewood-fueled stove. Be cautious, as the first-class Arak is said to contain 50% alcohol.
