Drive from Chennai to Kanchipuram Kanchipuram is known as the 'City of Thousand Temples'. It is also called the “Silk City” as silk saris are manufactured here. Visit Kailasanathar temple: It is dedicated to Lord Shiva, which dates back to 8th century. This temple is noted for its architecture and sculptures. The main profession of people in Kanchipuram is weaving silk sarees.
