What you can expect

  • Step into the world of the samurai on a relaxed 3-hour guided tour through Kanazawa’s most important historic sights. The route is thoughtfully planned to connect the Nagamachi Samurai District, Kanazawa Castle, and Kenrokuen Garden at a comfortable pace, with time for photos, questions, and short breaks along the way.

Admission to the Nomura-ke Samurai Residence and Kenrokuen Garden is included in the tour price, so you can enjoy the experience without purchasing additional entrance tickets.

Begin in the historic Nagamachi Samurai District, where atmospheric streets, traditional earthen walls, and waterways preserve the character of the Edo period. Your guide will bring the area to life with stories of how samurai families lived and served the Maeda family.

Enter the beautifully preserved Nomura-ke Samurai Residence to see historical artefacts and its award-winning Japanese garden.

Continue to the outdoor grounds of Kanazawa Castle and discover how the Maeda family—the feudal lords who ruled Kanazawa—shaped the city’s history, culture, and architecture. The tour explores the castle grounds; paid interior areas are not part of the itinerary.

Finish at Kenrokuen Garden, one of Japan’s Three Great Gardens, and enjoy its seasonal scenery and carefully designed landscapes with your guide.

The tour is conducted in English, with AI-powered translation support available in over 150 languages when needed. Perfect for solo travellers, couples, families, and anyone who wants an engaging and comfortable introduction to Kanazawa’s samurai heritage.
