CNN has named Kalmar Castle one of the most beautiful castles in the world - and once you see it, you'll understand why.
Built in the 16th century by the Vasa kings, Kalmar Castle is Sweden's best-preserved Renaissance castle and one of the country's most dramatic historic landmarks. This is where the Kalmar Union was forged, where queens were crowned, and where centuries of Scandinavian history come alive in remarkable detail.
Your admission also includes access to the Children's Castle – a unique family experience where children can meet knights, dress as princesses, complete medieval challenges and take part in activities throughout the castle.
Your morning priority ticket gets you past the lines between 10:00 and 12:00 - the best time to visit. Cooler temperatures, fewer crowds, and the golden morning light make for experiences and photos that afternoon visitors simply don't get. Cross the moat and when you see the ticket booth, walk on the right side of the rope. A host will scan your ticket and show you the way.
The ticket is valid for any day between 22 June and 9 August, so there's no need to commit to a specific date when you book - choose your day when you arrive in Kalmar.
