What you can expect
Explore the history, culture, and traditions of Cali on a guided walking tour through some of the city’s most emblematic landmarks. This experience combines religious heritage, museums, art, and local culture while discovering the historic centre of the city.
The tour begins at the iconic La Ermita Church, one of the most photographed landmarks in Cali and a beautiful example of neo-gothic architecture. From there, we walk to the historic Plaza de Caicedo, the main square of the city, where we will visit the impressive San Pedro Apostol Cathedral, one of the most important religious temples in Cali.
Next, we explore the pre-Hispanic history of the region with a visit to the Calima Gold Museum of the Banco de la República de Colombia, where you will learn about the ancient cultures of the Valle del Cauca and admire fascinating gold artefacts.
The journey continues to the historic complex of the La Merced Archaeological Museum and its colonial church, considered one of the oldest and most historically significant sites in the city.
Afterwards, we head to the traditional San Antonio area to visit the charming San Antonio Church, located on a hill that offers beautiful views of the city.
The tour then continues towards the renowned La Tertulia Museum (exterior visit), one of Cali’s most important modern art spaces. From there, we walk along the Cali River to reach the famous El Gato del Río Park, where you will see the iconic cat sculpture and its colourful artistic companions.
Finally, the experience ends at the lively Jairo Varela Plaza, where we enter the Jairo Varela Museum. Here you will discover the storey of salsa music in Cali and the legacy of one of Colombia’s most influential salsa composers, celebrating the rhythm that made Cali known as the World Capital of Salsa.
This tour is perfect for travellers who want to experience Cali’s history, architecture, art, and music in one immersive cultural journey.
