- 9CP52RXC+2P | Jökulsárlón, Parking Lot, 781 Hornafjörður, Iceland. This tour departs from the Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon Parking Lot. The meeting point is on the east side of the parking lot (further from the lagoon), where you will see super jeeps and tour vans parked. This adventure is operated jointly with our partners at Glacier Mice. Please look for a bright orange truck with the Adventures logo in the window, and our meeting point sign in front. Here, the guide will greet you and lead you to the Super Jeep. Please note that our tours leave promptly. We recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your scheduled tour. Jökulsárlón is a busy area. There are parking lots on either side of the Route 1 highway: beside the Glacier Lagoon, and south of the bridge at the Diamond Beach. Please allow plenty of time to find parking and make your way to the meeting point, on the east side of the Glacier Lagoon parking lot. What you can expect
Meet your guide in the Glacier Lagoon car park by a bright orange lorry. Hop into a powerful Super Jeep and drive for 20–30 minutes to reach the edge of the glacier, with scenic views along the way. Once you leave the main road, the ride gets bumpy, so strap in and enjoy the adventure.
At the glacier, get all the gear you need, including a helmet, headlamp, and crampons for your boots. Walk for 15-20 minutes across the frozen ice to reach the canyons and hidden caves. This walk is easy for most people, and no prior experience is required.
Step inside the glacier to see how nature has shaped the ice. Depending on the light and the weather, see colours ranging from bright blue to pure white. The glacier is alive and constantly changing, meaning every tour is a unique experience. Because the ice moves and shifts, the cave may look different from one week to the next.
The team checks the glacier every single day to find the most beautiful blue ice formations for you to see. Your safety is always the main priority, so you’ll only be taken to the best and safest spots available. After your time exploring the ice, return to the Super Jeep and drive back to the Glacier Lagoon.
