What you can expect

Come to discover one of the best places in the Valencian Community for kayaking, the Portixol Island: a natural wonder only accessible from the sea.

The Portitxol Cove, also known as Cala Barraca of Jávea, is located between Cap Prim and Cap Negre.

The route takes its name from the white fishermen's houses located there, called barracas. A rustic beach of gravel, pebbles and rocks.

If you look out to the sea, a few metres to the left you'll see the Portitxol Island, a small island with a surface area of 300 metres, which is of great archaeological and botanical interest. You'll visit this island on days when it isn't possible to go to Cabo de la Nao due to weather conditions.

What is the Trip like?

You'll get started from Cala la Barraca or also known as Cala Portitxol (Portichol) to head towards Cala el Pom, where you'll have previously been able to observe the “Falzia” lookout, this viewpoint is a balcony overlooking the Portitxol where you can see much of Jávea's coastline.

Passing Cala el Pom, you'll go past the Arquet in the direction of Cap Negre, so called because of the dark spots on the cliff walls.

Next to the viewpoint of “Cap Negre”, two fishermen's paths wind their way to the caves of Tabaco and La Mina.

After crossing the cape, you'll head towards “Punta Plana”, to cross “Cala la Barra”.

Finally, we will enter the “Els Òrguens” cave, the star of this route.
