What you can expect

  • Begin your journey with sweeping views from Douglas Head, where you’ll learn how Douglas became a thriving tourist destination in the 1800s. Travel along the scenic east coast, following the Manx Electric Railway to Laxey for a stop at the Great Laxey Wheel, the world’s largest working water wheel. Explore the historic Laxey Woollen Mills before heading to King Orry’s Grave, a Neolithic burial site, and then continue to the ancient churchyard at Maughold, known for its early monastery and Celtic crosses.

Venture north through Ramsey and experience a stretch of the world-famous TT mountain course, taking in panoramic views before descending into the lush valleys of the west. Arrive in Peel, where you can enjoy lunch by the marina and admire the imposing Peel Castle. Afterwards, visit Tynwald Hill at St Johns, the site of the island’s ancient parliament, and then journey south to the traditional village of Cregneish. At the Sound, observe the breeding grounds of Atlantic grey seals and, on clear days, watch for basking sharks in the surrounding waters.

Conclude your day with a visit to Castletown, home to one of Europe’s best-preserved medieval castles and a charming Georgian square. The tour ends with a comfortable return to Douglas, leaving you well oriented to explore more of the Isle of Man at your own pace.
