What you can expect

  • Take on one of Nepal’s most exciting Himalayan adventures with Island Peak Climbing, a spectacular combination of trekking, Sherpa culture, high-altitude adventure and mountaineering. Rising to 6,189 metres (20,305 ft) in the Everest region, Island Peak—also known as Imja Tse—is an ideal choice for adventurous travellers looking to go beyond a traditional Everest Base Camp trek.

Your journey begins with a scenic flight to Lukla, followed by trekking through the legendary Khumbu Valley. Walk through charming Sherpa villages, cross suspension bridges decorated with prayer flags, visit ancient Buddhist monasteries and enjoy breathtaking views of the Himalayan giants. The route takes you through Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Dingboche and Chhukung, allowing your body to gradually acclimatise to the increasing altitude.

As you approach Island Peak, the landscape transforms from green valleys and forests into rugged alpine terrain, glaciers and towering Himalayan walls. At Island Peak Base Camp, your experienced climbing guide will provide essential pre-climb training, including crampon walking, glacier travel, harness use, rope techniques and ascending fixed ropes with a jumar.

Then comes the ultimate challenge: summit day.

Starting before sunrise, you climb through the cold Himalayan darkness towards the summit. With your climbing team supporting you, negotiate glaciated terrain and technical sections before reaching the summit ridge. When weather and conditions are favourable, stand proudly at 6,189 metres above sea level and enjoy unforgettable views of Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam, Baruntse, Makalu and the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

Island Peak climbing is more than reaching a summit. It is about discovering the Himalayas step by step, experiencing authentic Sherpa culture, learning real mountaineering skills and sharing an extraordinary achievement with your team.

This is a challenging high-altitude adventure and requires good physical fitness, determination and preparation. Previous climbing experience is helpful, but the progressive trekking route and practical training make this an exciting objective for prepared adventure travellers.

If you dream of standing on a Himalayan summit, experiencing the Everest region and taking your first serious step into high-altitude mountaineering, Island Peak is calling.

Join us for an unforgettable Island Peak climbing adventure and turn your Himalayan dream into a storey you will carry for life.
