What you can expect

Set out on an exploration of what makes Penang unique! Visit a cottage industry that specialises in the manufacturing of traditional batik, fabric printing using wax and dyes. Using the age old techniques of hand drawing and hand block printing, the main motifs used are of flora and fauna.

Drive on through the hills with the lush greenery of fruit orchards and forest dotting the passing scenery. We stop by at a nutmeg factory, to watch and learn how the fresh fruit is processed into various products such as juice, preserved fruit, balm, medicated oil. From the tree itself to every part of the nutmeg, all are very useful and each has its own function.

We move on to a local street fruit stall where you will be amazed with the varieties of local fruits available. The exploration continues with a drive through a fishing village, Malay villages with their quaint kampong houses and paddy fields. Paddy fields are a rare sight nowadays, so it is a great experience to be able to see it here.

As we arrive in Balik Pulau Town, you will get to see the various Mural Art pieces that have made the town famous. Each mural tells a storey that is special to the local residents.

The Snake Temple, also known as The Temple of the Azure Cloud was built in 1805 in honour of a Buddhist monk who did many good deeds such as healing the sick and giving shelter to snakes. The temple houses the Wagler's Pit Viper mainly.

We end our exploration with a visit to Coffee Tree Boutique where you can purchase some of the popular types of coffee to bring home.
