What you can expect

  • Long before Kyoto, before Tokyo, before Japan even had an emperor in name, there was Ise — a forest, a river, and a single shrine to the sun goddess. Two thousand years on, it still stands. Or rather, it is still being rebuilt: every twenty years, by hand, exactly as before.

This is a fully private, fully customisable day in Ise — shaped around your pace and curiosity.

    Highlights:

    • Walk Geku and Naiku in the traditional pilgrimage order, Japan's most sacred shrines
    • Cross Uji Bridge and purify your hands in the Isuzu River, as pilgrims have for centuries
    • Step into the 5,500-hectare sacred forest of ancient cypress that surrounds the shrines
    • Taste Okage Yokocho — Akafuku mochi, local sake, and Edo-era pilgrim streets
    • Optional add-ons: Meoto Iwa (the Married Rocks), Sengukan museum, or a quiet tea moment

Your licensed guide doesn't just point — they explain why a shrine with no idols and no scripture has shaped Japan more than any other.
