What you can expect

  • Make your way to the Hofkirche, widely regarded as the most important art monument in Tyrol. Built between 1553 and 1563, its serene Renaissance hall holds an imperial memorial like no other.

At its centre is the free-standing cenotaph of Emperor Maximilian I, ringed by 28 larger-than-life bronze statues, the Schwarze Mander — ancestors, relatives, and role models, which actually also include eight women. Famous artists such as Albrecht Dürer, Peter Vischer the Elder, and Alexander Colin contributed to its creation.

Explore at your own pace with the free app, step into the silver-altar Silver Chapel, and pause at the tomb of Tyrolean freedom fighter Andreas Hofer. Ideal for independent visitors, history lovers, and anyone drawn to Renaissance art.
