What you can expect

Set your camera down and embark on a cultural experience that you won't need photos to help remember. Visit with the inhabitants of the Hopi Indian Reservation and learn about their unique culture and traditions. Then enjoy a lunch of local cuisine and meet the original kachina doll carvers.

After pickup from your Sedona hotel, sit back and enjoy the ride to the Hopi Indian Reservation. Along the way, you see towering ponderosa pines and the richly coloured Red Rocks of Sedona. Arriving at the reservation, tuck your camera away since photography is not allowed. As far as your eye can see is the land and sacred sites of the Hopi Indians.

Visit with the residents of the area that are the descendants of the Native Americans that have inhabited this land for thousands of years. Listen closely as they weave stories about their ancestors and marvel at the uniqueness and simplicity of their lifestyle.

Next, explore the oldest continually inhabited village in all of North America, Old Oraibi. Here, you can learn about the Hopi Indian Emergence Story and find out more details about their culture and spirituality. Nearby, walk through the streets of thousands-of-years-old clifftop villages. In one such village, you have the opportunity to talk with the original carvers of the infamous kachina dolls. If you'd like, you can purchase a unique and authentic piece of art from a local.

Stop for a bite to eat on the Second Mesa of the Hopi Cultural Centre, choosing from classic American food and traditional Hopi Indian cuisine. This experience expands your mind and allows you the opportunity to peer into the lives of an ancient tribe whose customs and traditions have been maintained for centuries.
