Explore the cultural attraction, Home of Carlsberg. Discover the storey, science, and craftsmanship behind one of the world’s most iconic breweries. Your ticket includes a guided tour of the historic Carlsberg beer cellars and self-guided access to the interactive exhibition.
Before you go into the Home of Carlsberg exhibition, you are invited on a secret cellar guided tour, where the historic beer cellars from 1847 take centre stage. Carlsberg’s founder, J.C. Jacobsen, chose Valby Hill for good reasons. He wanted access to clean water and the ability to dig deep cellars for proper beer storage. The tour begins along the Carlsberg way with a beer in hand, and takes you past J.C. Jacobsen’s former villa. Then, you descend 14 metres underground. Here, you’ll gain a rare insight into the working lives of the brewery workers and the crucial role the cellars played in Carlsberg’s early operations.
After your guided cellar tour, you’ll explore the 3,000 m² exhibition. It is dedicated to Carlsberg’s history, from the very first brew to a global company. Uncover the compelling storey of Carlsberg and its founders, J.C. Jacobsen and his son Carl Jacobsen. Their tale is shaped by family conflict, ambition, and differing visions of beer brewing. Through interactive games and videos, explore the science that has played a vital role at Carlsberg since its foundation and its importance to the development of beer worldwide. Or prepare to be amazed as you step into one of the world’s largest bottle collections, featuring more than 22,000 unopened bottles. The experience ends with a perfectly served beer straight from the tap in the beautiful Carlsberg Bar.
