06:00 Depart from Kandy with your private driver and enjoy a scenic two-hour journey to the lesser-explored region of Mahiyanganaya. 08:30 On arrival, begin a guided waterfall trekking experience with a local expert. Walk through peaceful countryside landscapes, passing paddy fields, irrigation canals, and forest paths. As the trail unfolds, be accompanied by birdsong and the distant sound of cascading water. Visit two hidden waterfalls, take time to relax, and explore the rich flora and fauna of the area. 12:30 Conclude the trek and have a Sri Lankan Lunch at the Village.

The term “Wedda” translates to “people of the forests” and members of this indigenous community have been taking refuge in the Dambana forest for centuries. Learn more about their fascinating lifestyle of a forest dweller and how they have adapted to the changing times. 18:00 Arrive back at the hotel and enjoy the hotel facilities including dinner.

Sorabora Lake

05:30 Depart from your hotel early in the morning to welcome a new day as the sun rises over the tranquil Sorabora Lake. Begin with a scenic one-hour boat ride across the vast 1,440-acre lake, taking in breathtaking views of calm blue waters and surrounding landscapes. Keep an eye out for birdlife—if you’re lucky, you may witness diving birds plunging into the water in search of their morning catch. Observe local fishermen practising traditional fishing techniques as they skilfully enclose the fish and bring in their harvest. After the boat ride, head to the summit of Sorabora Rock for a memorable breakfast with a view. Here, a dedicated chef will prepare a freshly cooked, delicious breakfast while you enjoy panoramic lake vistas. Following breakfast, enjoy a one-hour kayaking session on the lake before continuing your journey onward to Ella or Yala.
