Time permitting, drive to Gimblett Gravels, which combine the French concept of “terroir” with modern day thinking to define, protect, and market wine. The Gimblett Gravels area is treated similarly to an appellation, covers around 800 hectares, and is strictly determined by the gravelly base deposited by the old Ngaruroro River route. You will discover why this area has been recognised as “one of the top 12 wine growing regions in the world” yes, in the world…. yes, you will taste some of those wines.
Continue to a secluded brewery set in orchards or when closed, head to a local ale house for 4 glassfuls of anything from the range available. That includes, beers and ciders.
