Located about an hour's drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, it offers visitors an authentic African safari experience without having to travel to South Africa's larger national parks. The name "Dinokeng" means "a place of rivers" in Setswana, reflecting the region's natural beauty and diverse ecosystems. The reserve spans over 21,000 hectares of bushveld and is home to the Big Five—lion, leopard, elephant, rhinoceros, and buffalo—as well as giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, hippos, crocodiles, hyenas, antelope, and more than 300 bird species.
