Immerse yourself in a world of creation, tradition and symbolism by taking part in the Adinkra Workshop, a unique experience in the heart of Grand-Bassam.

Over the course of two hours, you will be introduced to an ancient technique of West African origin: the art of batik, made by hand using engraved wooden stamps, hot wax and dyes. An opportunity to learn the techniques of a craft passed down from generation to generation.

Beyond the technique, this workshop is a gateway to the richness of Adinkra symbols, which convey universal messages such as freedom, wisdom and resilience. Each participant chooses the symbols that resonate with their storey or their intentions at the time to create a personalised and meaningful fabric.

The activity is suitable for everyone, including children, and is experienced as a moment of sharing, focus and discovery. At the end of the workshop, your creation is left to dry for about an hour. This free time can be an opportunity to grab a bite to eat, enjoy a drink, or stroll through the historic streets of Bassam.

You will leave with a unique loincloth that is both beautiful and deeply personal. A wonderful way to combine creativity, cultural memory and emotion.
