What you can expect

Start your tour at the Gothenburg Town Hall which was originally built in the 17th century and extended in 1936 under the architect Gunnar Asplund. Here, you will see the Beaux-Arts style architecture of the building and most importantly how the architectural style blends the old and new buildings.

As you arrive at the square known as Götaplatsen, you will see the Poseidon statue by Carl Milles, a very famous landmark. The square features the Concert hall, the Gothenburg Museum of Art and the City Theatre.

Featuring several shops, you will visit the Stora Saluhallen market hall, which is the biggest indoor market in Gothenburg. Here, you will find groceries from all over the world.

Walk by the fish market known as Feskekörka. It is also known as the Fish church due to the fact that the Neo-Gothic architectural style represents a church. The Building also features a fish and seafood restaurant. It dates back to 1874 and was designed by the architect Victor von Gegerfelt.

You will stroll through Haga Nygata where you will come across many cafes and shops. You may wish to take a short Swedish Fika (coffee and cake) break here.

Finally, you will visit the Masthugget Church which dates back to 1914. Here, you will see its tower which is about 60 metres tall. It is an important landmark of the city. You will also have a chance to visit another famous Church known as the Oscar Fredrik Church. It is built in Neo-Gothic style and is named after King Oscar II.
