Start your day with a visit to the Tanji fish market. Watch as the colourful fishing boats return from the sea, packed with the ocean's bounty. See people carrying heavy baskets full of fish. Be invited to watch how they smoke, dry, and salt the fish for preservation. Dressed in African attire, we will try to blend into the crowd and purchase fresh fish and vegetables for your lunch, which you will enjoy in the village of Sansanding.
Next, visit the Gunjur Snake Farm, a place created for education about the reptiles and amphibians living in The Gambia, to protect them and reduce fear.
Continue to the village of Sansanding. See gardens, wells, and local homes. Visit an educational community centre full of children, run by the Polish-Gambian organisation One Strive Gambia. Using the products you purchased, lunch will be prepared for you in the village. Cooked over a charcoal fire, this MBAHAL meal will stay in your memories forever.
START at around 8am. RETURN at around 4-5pm. (exact time will be confirmed closer to the date of your tour; pickup and drop off at your hotel)
