What you can expect

  • One day trip to Nzulezo – the village on stilts
We will pick you up from your hotel in the Cape Coast area between 6:00 and 8:00 am. We will travel west for about 4 hours through Sekondi-Takoradi, the capital of the Western Region. From Beyin, the village of Nzulezo can only be reached by small boat. The life of the community of about 500 people takes place almost exclusively on boats and on wooden planks made from raffia palms, which have been driven into the lake bed on stilts. For centuries, the people here have lived in harmony with nature, fishing and farming, but modern life has also left its mark. Here, you can get to know the lifestyle of the people, have a drink at a pub, or even have a freshly grilled fish served to you. You can visit the village's primary school or one of its places of worship. If there is still enough time, it is possible to visit the small Fort Apollonia in Beyin and learn about the culture of the Nzema people.
After about 11 to 12 hours, you will return to your hotel.
Min. 1 – max. 7 people aged 7–99; not suitable for wheelchair users; only partially suitable for people with walking disabilities (boarding and disembarking the boat)
