What you can expect

Get an appreciation for the ancient splendour of north Portugal's crown jewel—the city of Porto. This UNESCO-listed city has one of the most remarkable historic centers across all of Europe. From the Cathedral to port wine cellar, Porto is a city rich in history, tradition, and culture.

The tour begins with a walk through the historic centre, exploring Avenida dos Aliados, where you can appreciate the imposing architecture of the buildings. We'll continue to São Bento Train Station, where the guide will share the history of the station and the famous tiles, which depict important scenes from Portuguese culture and history. We'll walk up to Porto Cathedral, one of the city's oldest monuments. From the cathedral, we head towards the Fernandina Wall, from where there are beautiful views of the city.

When we reach Praça da Batalha, we board our comfortable bus. The tour continues towards Vila Nova de Gaia, where we will visit a Port wine cellar for a full explanation of the Port wine production process, followed by a tasting of three wines.

Have free time to lunch at the city centre (not included). After lunch, we board a rabelo boat to sail along the Douro River, enjoying the views of the bridges that connect Porto and Gaia.

Back on land and in the bus, we head to Foz do Douro, one of the city's most beautiful areas, with the beautiful backdrop of the Douro River and free time to enjoy the view of the Atlantic coast and the Castelo do Queijo. We continue the tour of the Boavista area, passing the Casa da Música and Serralves Park.

If you want to get to know the fanciest and most exclusive part of the city, this is the perfect opportunity to visit the Foz do Douro, with gorgeous villas overlooking the sea. Get close to the sea, and to the Cheese Castle (Castelo do Queijo).

Take some time to appreciate the views or walk along the seafront promenade.
