What you can expect

Experience the best of North Kyushu's coast: scenic bridges, fresh local markets, a dreamy shrine by the sea, and a million-dollar night view.

  1. Kanmon Bridge Drive-By View
Introduction: Cross Kanmon Bridge (links Honshu & Kyushu) and enjoy stunning Kanmon Strait views from the bus—blue sea, passing ships, and coastal scenery. A perfect start to your coastal tour.
Duration: Approximately 10 minutes (scenic drive across the bridge).

  2. Karato Market / Mojiko Retro District
Introduction: Karato Market, known as “the Kitchen of Kanmon,” is a lively fishermen’s direct-sale market where you can find fresh seafood, local snacks, and handcrafted goods. Try freshly made seafood sushi (at your own expense) and immerse yourself in the authentic local market atmosphere. The market is open every Friday to Sunday; on other dates or when it is closed, we will visit Mojiko Retro District instead. Karato Market’s regular closing days are every Wednesday, plus March 4, 11, 25. For the latest closing dates, contact customer service. Mojiko Retro District is an old port area with nostalgic Western-style buildings, retro cafes, and unique shops, perfect for photos and exploring.
Duration: Approximately 60 minutes.(including the lunch time)

  3. Motonosumi Shrine
Introduction: Selected by CNN as one of Japan’s “31 Most Beautiful Places,” Motonosumi Shrine is a dream-like coastal shrine. Walk through a tunnel of 123 crimson torii gates that wind along the cliffside towards the sea, creating a stunning contrast between the red gates and the blue ocean. Don’t miss the chance to toss a coin into the uniquely placed offering box (said to bring good luck) and capture postcard-worthy photos. Note: From March 1st, the shrine’s worship area is closed on weekends, Japanese national holidays, May 2-10 and Aug 8-16. Coastal red torii gates remain open.
    Duration: Approximately 60 minutes.

  4. Mount Sarakura Night View
Introduction: Visit Kitakyushu’s top night view spot, Mount Sarakura. Enjoy the famous “Million-Dollar Night View” (one of Japan’s New Three Great Night Views). NOTE: Ropeway optional(pay ur own). If ropeway is closed, alternative spots (Akama Shrine/Fukuoka Tower) are arranged.
    Duration: Approximately 90 minutes.

A wonderful day along North Kyushu’s stunning blue coastline—from the scenic Kanmon Bridge to the lively Karato Market, the dreamy Motonosumi Shrine, and the breathtaking Mount Sarakura night view. Every moment brings a unique experience, combining nature, culture, and urban charm, leaving you with unforgettable memories of Kyushu’s coastal beauty.
