What you can expect

  • Discover Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park with Cheeky Kiwi Travel. You travel in a small group in a modern, comfortable minibus, with water and snacks on board. Your local guide shares stories about the region’s history and Māori culture throughout the day. Drive through the Kawarau Gorge, past the Kawarau Suspension Bridge and Roaring Meg Lookout, then over Lindis Pass. Stop in Omarama for a break and to buy lunch for the walk.

At Lake Pukaki, stop for photos of the bright blue lake with Aoraki/Mount Cook behind it. In the national park, you have about 3 hours to walk the Hooker Valley Track at your own pace. The track crosses three swing bridges, including a new 189-metre bridge that opened in 2026 and is the longest in New Zealand. It ends at Hooker Lake, at the foot of Aoraki/Mount Cook.

On the way back, stop at High Country Salmon, a local salmon farm, where you can feed the fish and taste fresh salmon”. In summer, we often stop at Jacksons Orchard for local fruit or real fruit ice cream. Then relax on the drive back to Queenstown with your guide.
