What you can expect
Poon Hill is a popular trekking destination located in the Annapurna region of Nepal. It is renowned for its stunning panoramic views of the Himalayan mountain range, including some of the world's highest peaks such as Annapurna and Dhaulagiri. Poon Hill is a relatively accessible trek and is often included in the itineraries of trekkers exploring the Annapurna Circuit or the Annapurna Base Camp.
The trek to Poon Hill typically starts from the town of Nayapul or other nearby villages, and it takes a few days to reach the hill's summit. The trail passes through lush rhododendron forests, charming Gurung and Magar villages, and offers a glimpse into the local culture and way of life.
Poon Hill itself is renowned for its breathtaking sunrise and sunset views, making it a prime spot for photographers and nature enthusiasts. The sight of the sun painting the snow-capped peaks in hues of gold and pink is truly magical. Due to its relatively low altitude compared to other Himalayan treks, Poon Hill is accessible to a wide range of trekkers, making it a popular choice for those looking to experience the beauty of the Nepalese Himalayas without the challenges of high-altitude trekking.
