What you can expect

Canoe and Tule Sightseeing Tour on Lake Atitlán

9:00 am | Meet-up in Panajachel
We will meet at the meeting point, where your local guide will greet you and give you an introduction to the experience you will have on Lake Atitlán.

9:15 am | Boat ride to Santiago Atitlán
We will board a motorboat to sail among volcanoes on our way to Santiago Atitlán, a village full of history, living Mayan traditions, and colourful handicrafts. Here you can discover the cultural richness of one of the lake's most iconic communities.

9:45 am | Canoe trip on Lake Atitlán and experience with the tular plant
In Santiago Atitlán, you'll have a unique experience as you board a traditional canoe, connecting with the essence of Lake Atitlán, considered one of the most beautiful lakes in the world. As you enter its crystal-clear waters, you'll feel the calm of paddling gently, surrounded by imposing volcanoes and a natural landscape that inspires peace and wonder at every moment.

During this adventure, you'll not only enjoy the serenity of the lake, but you'll also participate in a cultural and ecological encounter. You'll learn first-hand about the importance of the tular, an aquatic plant that's vital for the conservation of the ecosystem and essential in the daily life of the communities. You'll learn about its planting, the difference between the female and male tul, and hear the storey of the Comité de Tuleros, the guardians of this aquatic plant who protect its balance and promote its sustainable use.

Through the stories and knowledge of local guides, you'll discover how the tul is transformed into handicrafts and organic products, reflecting the creativity and deep relationship between people and their environment.

This tour is much more than a canoe ride: it's an invitation to experience Lake Atitlan in an authentic, responsible, and conscious way, connecting with nature at its finest, learning from living Mayan traditions, and supporting local conservation initiatives.

1:00 pm | Lunch at your leisure with local recommendations
You'll have time to enjoy lunch on your own. Our tour guide will suggest authentic local restaurants where you can sample traditional dishes prepared with ancient recipes and local produce.

2:15 pm | Free time
Relax, explore at your own pace, buy handicrafts, or simply take in the beauty of the place while capturing unique souvenirs in photographs.

3:30 pm | Return to Panajachel
We end the day by returning to Panajachel with the satisfaction of having had an authentic and enriching experience, where nature, culture, and tradition come together to give you an unforgettable day.
