What you can expect

  • Depart from your hotel in Palenque at 4:00 AM for the five-hour drive to Calakmul. Spend three hours exploring the archaeological site, learning about its different Mayan buildings and enjoying the surrounding natural environment.

    The archaeological zone lies at the heart of the biosphere reserve. Its diverse wildlife includes jaguars, toucans, peacocks, monkeys, tapirs, and a wide variety of reptiles, which you may see with some luck.

    After the visit, there will be time for food before the return journey to Palenque, with arrival at approximately 9:00 PM.
