Travel from La Paz to San Pedro de Atacama on a 4-day tour of the Salar de Uyuni and the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve. Enjoy a comfortable bus ride from La Paz to Uyuni, and then take a 4x4 tour to the Salar de Uyuni and the Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve.
Day 1: La Paz to Uyuni
Head to the bus office at 8:30 PM for check-in, after which the bus will depart at 9:00 PM. Inside the bus, , breakfast, a bottle of water, a hot drink, heating, bathrooms, a blanket, and a first aid kit.
Day 2: Uyuni
Arrive in the city of Uyuni at 7:30 AM and head to the office located one block from the bus station. Enjoy free time to buy snacks, water, and use bathrooms to freshen up.
Start your excursion leaving the city of Uyuni at 10:30 AM from the Perla de Bolivia office. Visit the Train Cemetery, the small settlement of Colchani (workshops of salt miners next to the salt flat), crafts made with salt, and textile art made from llama and alpaca fibre.
Next, visit the “Salt Water Eyes,” a hotel-museum made entirely of salt, and Incahuasi Island. Then, make sure you and your group pose for fun distorted perspective photos against the striking white surface of the salt flat.
To end the day, head to an open and spacious area to experience the unique opportunity of watching a beautiful sunset, spreading its dazzling colours across the salt flat, and finally arrive at the village of Ajencha for dinner and an overnight stay at the hostel.
Day 3: Uyuni to Huayllajara
Start at 7:00 AM for breakfast. Visit the Ollagüe Volcano viewpoint, the rocky path “El Pasito Tuntun,” and the famous Cañapa, Hedionda, and Chiarcota lagoons where you can see flamingos.
Finally for the day, enter the “Eduardo Avaroa National Reserve,” Siloli Desert, Rock Tree, and the immense Laguna Roja to see more pink flamingos in their natural habitat. Spend the night at Huayllajara hostel.
Day 4: Huayllajara to San Pedro de Atacama
Start early around 5:00 AM to visit the Sol de Mañana Geyser, Hot Springs, Dalí Desert, Green Lagoon, and White Lagoon at the foot of Licancabur Volcano.
Next, return to the border between Bolivia and Chile (Hito Cajón), where a guide will assist you in crossing the border at 10:30 AM, arriving finally in San Pedro de Atacama by 2:00 PM. The drop-off point is at the main square of San Pedro de Atacama.
