What you can expect
Discover the natural beauty and cultural charm of Georgia’s Kazbegi region on this unforgettable journey through dramatic mountain landscapes, ancient landmarks, and peaceful villages. This tour combines some of the most scenic and authentic locations around Stepantsminda (Kazbegi), offering a perfect mix of history, nature, and local atmosphere.
The adventure begins in Kazbegi (Stepantsminda), surrounded by the towering peaks of the Greater Caucasus Mountains. From here, the road climbs towards the iconic Gergeti Trinity Church, one of Georgia’s most famous and photographed landmarks. Built in the 14th century and standing at approximately 2,170 metres above sea level, the church overlooks the valley with breathtaking panoramic views. The route itself is an experience, with winding mountain roads and unforgettable scenery leading towards Mount Kazbek, one of the highest peaks in Georgia. Gergeti Church is not only a spiritual monument but also a symbol of Georgian heritage and resilience, offering visitors a peaceful atmosphere and spectacular photo opportunities.
The tour continues to the beautiful Gveleti Waterfalls, hidden within a rocky mountain valley near the Georgian–Russian border area. A pleasant walking trail leads through dramatic cliffs and fresh mountain air towards the waterfalls. The sound of rushing water and the untouched surroundings create a refreshing escape into nature. The larger waterfall impresses visitors with its powerful flow and scenic setting, especially during spring and summer when water levels are at their highest. The short hike is rewarding and suitable for most visitors who enjoy light outdoor activity and natural landscapes.
Another highlight of the tour is Sno Village, a quiet and picturesque settlement located along the Sno Valley. Surrounded by green hills and snow-covered peaks, Sno offers a glimpse into traditional mountain life. The village is known for its peaceful atmosphere, historic defensive towers, and especially the remarkable stone sculptures created by local artist Merab Piranishvili. These carved stone heads of Georgian historical and cultural figures add a unique artistic touch to the village and have become a favourite stop for visitors.
Throughout the tour, travellers experience the authentic spirit of the Kazbegi region—where ancient traditions, mountain culture, and stunning scenery come together. Whether you are interested in history, photography, nature, or simply enjoying Georgia’s highland beauty, this tour offers an unforgettable experience in one of the country’s most remarkable destinations
