Begin your journey from the idyllic, motorized-vehicle-free paradise of Gili Trawangan back to the bustling mainland of Bali. As your time on the largest of the three Gili islands comes to an end, the transition begins at the main beachfront harbour. Located on the eastern side of the island, the Gili Trawangan jetty is a hub of vibrant activity.
Before boarding, gather at the designated check-in counters of your chosen fast boat operator. Here, large luggage is tagged and handled by the boat crew, leaving you with just your small daypack. The atmosphere is a lively mix of sun-kissed travellers sharing stories, locals managing logistics, and the gentle lapping of the turquoise waves against the shore. Once the boarding call is announced, walk across the soft white sand and onto the vessel, often stepping briefly through the warm, shallow water—a fitting, immersive farewell to island life.
Fast boats operating between Gili Trawangan and Sanur are modern, high-speed fibreglass catamarans or monohulls equipped with multiple powerful outboard engines. These vessels are specifically designed to navigate the open waters of the Lombok Strait efficiently, cutting travel time down significantly compared to traditional ferries.

As the boat approaches the southern coast of Bali, the dramatic silhouette of Mount Agung often serves as a breathtaking backdrop. Soon, the brand-new, ultra-modern Sanur Harbour (Pelabuhan Sanur) comes into view.
