This 5-day trip “From the Andes to the Amazon” offers a deep dive into the nature and culture of Peru.
DAY 1: CUSCO - CLOUD FOREST - DORADO LODGE.
It starts with the pick-up in Cusco to climb the high mountain and visit the pre-Inca cemetery of Ninamarca. We'll then head to Paucartambo, a world-renowned tourist town. Then, you'll descend into the cloud forest to look for the national bird, the Peruvian cock-of-the-rock. Finally, you'll arrive at the Dorado Lodge for the night.
Day 2: DORADO LODGE - RESERVED AREA - CASA MATSIGUENKA.
You'll sail along the Alto Madre de Dios River to the Manu National Park, with opportunities to observe jaguars, capybaras, tapirs, monkeys, birds, and reptiles. You'll arrive at Casa Matsiguenka to spend time with native families.
Day 3: COCHA SALVADOR AND COCHA OTORONGO.
You'll explore the “Cocha Salvador” by catamaran, observing giant otters and birds. You'll walk through the primary forests and visit Lake Cocha Otorongo to observe the wildlife from a tower. You'll head back to Casa Matsiguenka.
Day 4: CASA MATSIGUENKA - DORADO LODGE - TAPIR LICK.
You'll head back by boat along the Manu River, observing the wildlife again. You'll visit the native community of Diamante to support them by buying their products. You'll spend the night at the Dorado Lodge, with an optional night walk available.
Day 5: DORADO LODGE - PARROT CLAY LICK - CUSCO.
You'll visit the parrot and macaw clay lick to observe birds eating clay. Head back to the lodge for breakfast and then return by 4x4 lorry, observing the flora and fauna. You'll visit a garden of hummingbirds and orchids. You'll head back to Cusco, ending the adventure.
