Begin your day with breakfast before boarding a bus to explore the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. To avoid crowds and save energy, take a downhill route with no backtracking.
After taking the Yulei Escalator (at your own expense), visit the Erwang Temple, dedicated to Li Bing and his son. Cross the Anlan Suspension Bridge to reach the Dujiangyan Water Conservancy Project, known as the “First Ancient Dam in China” and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built by Li Bing in 227 BC during the Warring States period, highlights include the Fish Mouth Levee, the Flying Sand Weir, and the Bottle-Neck Channel.
Continue through Qingxi Garden (the top garden in Western Sichuan), Yangong Avenue, the Lying Irons, the Zhang Song Ginkgo Tree (said to be the inspiration for the ginseng fruit tree in Journey to the West), and the Fulong Taoist Temple. Finally, head to Lidui Park via Nanqiao Bridge for a panoramic view.
After lunch, enjoy a 40-minute Sichuan Opera Face-Changing Show featuring five acts: the Qiaohuadan (Pretty Dan role), tea art performance, Eight Trigrams Formation, Rolling Lamp, and Face-Changing.
Next, explore Mount Qingcheng. The mountains, waters, and fresh air here can soothe your restless mind. Seeking Taoism at Mount Qingcheng with a peaceful heart is perhaps the best way to step into a magical world. The unique climate of Mount Qingcheng nourishes its lush greenery. It rains here for two-thirds of the year, making your visit a destined encounter. In the drizzling rain and misty greenery, colourful shadows drift in the haze, appearing and disappearing like a masterpiece of nature. Accompanied by the rain, take a leisurely journey into this secluded wonderland and completely relax your mind and soul.
After the tour, return to Chengdu and conclude the trip at the designated drop-off point on Qintai Road.
