What you can expect

  • Begin your cultural tour of Minangkabau at the Kingdom of Pagaruyung. Use traditional dress and sample local cuisine, followed by a visit to the pariangan village

Explore the Pagaruyung King Palace, where you can see wood carving, songket making, or learn traditional dances. Visit the museum, which is part of the palace building, and see historical artefacts.

Around Pagaruyung Palace, find stalls and restaurants serving typical Minangkabau dishes such as rendang, dendeng balado, and various curries.

Stop at the information centre to learn about the history of Pagaruyung Palace. Visit the souvenir kiosks selling various typical Minangkabau souvenirs as mementos.

Next, we’ll continue our journey to a local restaurant for lunch and to sample traditional Minangkabau cuisine. Before that, we’ll visit and explore the most beautiful village in the world: Pariangan Village, the oldest village in the Minangkabau region, which boasts a variety of cultural heritage sites and sweeping views of vast rice paddies at sunset, whilst savouring local coffee or tea.
