What you can expect
Discover the history, nature, and colonial charm of Boyacá on a full-day excursion from Bogotá.
We'll begin our adventure by heading to Lake Guatavita, one of the country's most iconic places and the setting for the legendary storey of El Dorado. During a guided hike through the nature reserve, you'll learn about the cultural and spiritual importance of this place for the Muisca civilisation, while enjoying breathtaking Andean landscapes and panoramic views of the lagoon.
We'll continue our tour to Boyacá to visit the fascinating Casa Terracota, a unique architectural work built entirely of baked clay. Known as the largest ceramic house in the world, this place combines art, architecture, and creativity in a truly amazing space.
The next stop will be at the famous Blue Ponds, where you can admire the intense turquoise colour of the waters, which contrast with the region's semi-desert landscape. This is one of the most photographed places in Villa de Leyva and an ideal stop to capture unforgettable memories.
Later, we'll visit the Ecce Homo Monastery, a historic convent founded in the 17th century that retains much of its original architecture. Its courtyards, gardens, and religious spaces offer a glimpse into the colonial past and the history of the region.
Finally, we will arrive in Villa de Leyva, considered one of the most beautiful villages in Colombia. You'll have free time to wander its cobblestone streets, discover its craft shops, enjoy the local cuisine, and visit the impressive Plaza Mayor, one of the largest cobblestone squares in Latin America. Its perfectly preserved colonial architecture and tranquil ambiance make this destination a must-see for anyone who wants to learn about Colombia's cultural heritage.
Throughout the tour, you will be accompanied by a tour guide who will share historical and cultural facts and curiosities about each place visited, enriching your experience.
