6-Day Bale Mountains National Park Trekking and Wildlife Adventure
Discover the stunning landscapes and unique wildlife of Bale Mountains National Park, home to Africa’s largest Afro-alpine ecosystem. Enjoy scenic trekking, spectacular waterfalls, volcanic formations, and opportunities to spot Ethiopian wolves, mountain nyala, and Bale monkeys while exploring the Sanetti Plateau and Harenna Forest.
Day 1: Arrival and Wildlife Exploration
Meet your guide and explore Dinsho’s juniper woodlands, searching for mountain nyala, Menelik’s bushbuck, baboons, and endemic birds. Drive to Wabe Shabelle Hotel for dinner and overnight accommodation.
Day 2: Trek to Sodota Campsite
Trek approximately 18 km through the scenic Web Valley, passing Fincha Habera Waterfall. Watch for Ethiopian wolves, rock hyraxes, and highland birds. Overnight at Sodota campsite, around 3,500 metres above sea level.
Day 3: Trek to Keryenas Campsite
Continue through alpine landscapes, ancient lava formations, and rugged mountain terrain. Look for Ethiopian wolves and impressive birds of prey. Overnight at Keryenas campsite, around 3,900 metres.
Day 4: Trek to Rafu Campsite
Explore dramatic volcanic landscapes, basalt formations, and granite boulders while enjoying panoramic mountain views. Complete approximately 6–7 hours of trekking before camping at Rafu, around 4,000 metres.
Day 5: Sanetti Plateau, Tulu Dimtu, and Harenna Forest
Explore the spectacular Sanetti Plateau and visit Tulu Dimtu, Ethiopia’s second-highest peak at approximately 4,377 metres. Search for Ethiopian wolves and giant root rats before visiting the lush Harenna Forest. Drive to Goba or Robe for an overnight hotel stay.
Day 6: Departure
Enjoy breakfast before transferring to the domestic airport for your onward flight, concluding your unforgettable Bale Mountains adventure.
